Of Apples and Growing Up

Babies~

They do grow up before your very eyes.

And that's bittersweet.

Because I used to cut up his apples into tiny bits, no seeds.  Skin, peeled-off.

Oh, how he has grown.

Easter Sunday

Our Sundays, mostly, are a blur.  No matter how we start the day early, we'd always end up in a rush to make it to church on time.  And Sundays seem to come and go in a flash.  I'd often catch myself recollecting what happened over the weekend whenever I'm swamped with work, and dying to get additional days off.

In other news,  we did a quick photoshoot at Sister's lovely yard.  I've been contemplating on having Geb's photo taken at a studio nearby so I could utilize them for his birthday party in two weeks.  The last time we did, Geb was only six-weeks old.  And it was ridiculously pricey that I decided to go take photos of him, myself.

I have to say this task has never made me efficient through time. The thing is, it gets more challenging as he age.  I'd often consume an entire memory card to get that perfect shot.

How's that for a baby girl?

What else but, husband's idea.

Baby boy soon grew tired sitting still.  Enter Thomas the train.

Not walking yet, but getting there.  For sure.

Happy Easter one and all!

Mr. Big Mess

What kind of disciplinarian are you?

Or, should I ask~

Who's the disciplinarian in your house?

Well, our kid's age is quite young for some serious discipline.  The husband though, is keen on restraining anything that seems indulgent.  Like~

...sneaking on kitchen items.

Needless to say, little Geb is quite BIG on mess.  If you are concerned about child-proofing the house, we did installed safety locks on all our cupboards, cabinets and drawersBut, that particular cupboard, somewhat gave in to Geb's kind of fun.

Truth be told, I don't really make a fuss over his mess.  Unless he does something that challenge his safety.  Otherwise, I let him be.  It's his kind of fun.

And it's always fun to watch him having fun. Hee.

On Television

I still don't have a definite opinion on letting babies watch television (read related post HERE).  What's certain to me though, is that guilt eats me whole whenever I see Geb out there-- watching TV.

So, I stood past my guilt.  Reached out for the remote control, and~

BOOM!

Gebbie is watching-- WHAT??

More fun to watch him on video! Hee.

My Kind of Fun

Brian, apart from being an absolute-best-husband in the world, is the 'bath' parent.  I can only count in both hands the number of times he allowed me to bathe Geb.  Whatever that means, I chose not to care.

Enough said.

Ah, that smile. I'm in love.

It wasn't my turn to give him a bath today however, I did something I've been meaning to do but never had the chance to do it.

Before you think of anything outrageous~

I only wanted to see baby boy in a sink!

Glad I didn't pass up the chance to stuck him in there.  Give it a week or two, he probably won't fit anymore!

On Kids and Televison

Is TV bad for kids?

That is actually one of the heavily discussed topic among parents, doctors and researchers over the years.

Truth is, I'm partial on letting kids watch the television.  Especially those under the age of two.  I work as a babysitter, long before I had Geb.  The parents of the kid I babysit have somehow influenced me on their thoughts about introducing television at such a young age.

But, you see.  We can't help.  This all started in YouTube.  Yes, I blame those fun videos of beloved nursery rhymes and soothing lullabies that knock Geb off to sleep in no time.

Today, he watched this really old music videos in Betamax (insert LOL here)!  It's one of the hand-me-down items from a friend, thank you very much.  The artistry and direction of the videos are utterly outdated.  Sorry to say, they're downright hilarious!  The characters in each video, we call them our 'fake friends'.  Geb's fake friends.  All because they appear weird and..fake.  But, they must have been awesome to watch 10-15 years ago.  Hee.  Also, with due respect to the people behind them, they have certainly set a ground rule for all the excellent video makers of today.

In any case, baby boy is very much entertained.  We do limit his viewing in a day or week.  We feel a sense of achievement as parents when we go through a day without letting him watch any of his shows.

Sunday Loves

His most-liked toys to date, in no particular order.

********

I must admit I have gone a little impatient, lately, on Geb-not-walking-yetI personally think it's impossible not to feel the pressure when you are a parent-- with emphasis on FIRST time parents.  I do believe there's nothing wrong on babies walking a lot later than others, say before they turn a year old.  I am fully aware it doesn't make them less smart, less special.

Perhaps, I mistook my excitement with anxiety.  You are dying to see your precious little guy make his first step.  You know it's gonna happen.  You know you only have to wait-- but you don't know just how much time.

You get too excited, you can't wait.

So, to curb my impatience, I gladly joined baby boy in his play nook.  I showed him how to shoot a ball some days ago.  What do you know, he carefully held the ball with both hands, move towards the basket and made what seemed to be a victorious shot!

Hey, proud Mama here :)

Oh, I shouldn't feel so bad.

Little Geb isn't walking yet.  But boy oh boy, he's a basketball jock at eleven months! (insert wink here)
