Five

Fa-fa-fa-FIVE!

This baby, aside from growing 0.00000001 inch of hair sporadically, is tad sociable at five months.  His sweet, sweet smiles are absolutely enchanting I can't resist. Really makes my day.  No fail.

We went out for a walk this morning when we bumped into two little girls who graciously cheered Geb in his stroller.   One of the girls popped the question:

How old is he?

He is exactly five months old today, me saying.

And together they beamed~

Whoa.  Happy, happy small birthday!

Small birthday, it is.

And BIG birthday it will be~

.. after SEVEN 'small birthdays' from now.

Some highlights of Geb's fifth: rolling, and solid food. Hooray!

I was a little worried when Geb couldn't flip to his side during his fourth month.  I had to remind myself that babies develop at their own pace, and no two of them are alike.

By 17th week, Geb WOW-ed us with what seemed effortless rolls.

And yes, the little guy's into rice cereal now.

More of this month's 'small birthday' episode as follows.

He did it again.  Ha!

He does blow birthday candles.  Period.

So, how yummeeh is the cake you think?

Geb couldn't help but swipe that teeny tongue, you see?

This kid is gonna chow real food soon, I tell ya.

Our boy's grasp and grip improved a lot this month too.  He can reach anything with much ease.

We're happy he got other things he's fascinated with these days, well, in addition to those teeny fingers. Hee.

Ooopsie.

We made a big blunder doing this whole thing with a very sleepy baby. Thus the slew of abstracted look and eyes gazing away from the camera.

Nonetheless, happy happy fifth my bambino.  You rocked our world to its core exactly 153 days since.

    5-month old foot :)

Excuse this poor child meanwhile.

Gotta catch some zzz's.

Ayt!

About This Blog

Little Geb  is a supposed sequel of an erstwhile personal/food blog, dubbed I'm A Super, that began in 2010. After learning about my pregnancy in August of same year,  I took a rather long hiatus from blogosphere, only to come back over six months later with a brand new last name.  Determined to continue dishing out my daily cooking tales, I end up gushing about family life, the woes and wonders of expecting a baby, and eventually my being a first time Mama to Geb Brian Jr.

I have a healthy affair with words and photo images.  I am strongly convinced that those two, when put together, instantly paints a story.  This strong fondness of weaving words one after the other, thankfully, paved the way to keeping this online journal- documenting the hits and miss of motherhood; following every age and stage of my son, our pride in each of his milestones and anything in between.  There is something magical about writing down the nuts and bolts of emotions, life episodes, or even just the simple occurrences in our every day.  I'm glad I took the time to write down Geb's birth story as it would've gone past recollection, unknowingly.  And I'd bang my head now, for sure, if I passed up the chance to share such wonderful story.

Ultimately, this blog is a gift to my bambino.  I look forward to the day when he's grown enough to read and comprehend, and hopefully he'd appreciate how much Nanay set aside time and commitment to scribble those that matters while he is growing up.  How much he is treasured.  How much he is loved.

I hail from Cebu, Philippines.  I live and work in Bethesda, Maryland (since 2009) on weekdays and joins husband Brian in Frederick on weekends, with awesome sister-in-law Fritzie and her husband Michael.  Baby Geb nests in any of the two abode, traveling any day, any time of the week.  Our little guy is a terrific traveler since day one, until he learned to loathe being buckled-up in his good ol' rear-facing carseat.  Just how Pinoy is he!

I am a hardcore procrastinator (not that I'm proud of) and a bummer at managing time.  A long list of I am's HERE.

And oh, I have an unhealthy obsession with my ill-shaped eyebrows, of which Brian eternally hates I color it brown.

But I really don't color it, err, brown.

Swear.

I color it ESPRESSO.  Hee.

Prelude to FIVE

Geb's headway to five months is utterly eventful.  It is the most bold and remarkable, so far.  Truth be told, I am still very much tossed at the events so I kick around the thought of writing some of them here.

The past Wednesday was a long day.  The thought of it terrifies me, no Mother would ever dream being in my shoe.  My heart skipped some heartbeats. I was crying and shaking.  I was petrified.

I came home with my boy glued in my arms, unconscious.

It appears to me he was unconscious for a minute or two.  The Pedia later on concluded-  Geb suffered heat exhaustion. He went through physical and health exam the next day, of which he aced thankfully, much to our relief.

Whenever time permits, I bring Geb to my babysitting job.  I'd take him in a stroller to a school nearby to pick-up a child I babysit for over two years now. It's a good twenty-minute walk, no biggie.  But ain't easy on rainy days (rained five-straight-days last week!) or when too sunny plus an insane level of humidity, such as last Wednesday the 14th.  Geb battled to stay in the stroller. I was darn uneasy myself from the heat, icky-sticky-feel with sweat, what more a small baby.  After an awful lot of soothing strategies, we end up leaving the stroller behind; hurried home with a six-year old girl in tow.  At this point, I reckon, I could have done better.  I could have ditched such risky feat, and avoided harm.  But my goal, then, was to brave a quick walk home as we would've been wretched the same, out in the streets.

We were a few steps to the house' front door when Geb passed out.  Although the pedia contend, he could've just fallen asleep or was plain tired to make any movement.  But it was strange to me he clung into my arms stiff-still for about eight minutes.  His eyes were half-open, but I couldn't seem to feel and hear him breathe.  Or perhaps I panic too much, too quickly, hence my perplexed judgment.   I was a Mama in distress.  At the front door, I was already wailing, praying aloud 'God please save my son'.  That little girl I was with, snatched my keys and managed to open the door in seconds!  I heard Geb's precious cry the minute we stepped inside the house.  He got back to his senses before I called up 911.

In my head, there was no way the little girl can open that door at once.  She's just six.  Never keyed a double-locked door ever before.

See what my little-big-girl can do?

She saved lives~

.. mine and Geb.

                      September 2009

              April 2010

                  July 2010

December 2010. Prego, at 5 months.

2011. Big sister love :) My bump at 36 weeks.

June 2011.  When they met the first time.

If it were to happen again (I pray never again), I'd exhaust all the means and energy to get all three of us home, safe and sound.

Little Geb, you had Nanay so scared-to-death.  I'd be a total basket-case, pinned to sorrow if I indeed harmed you in any way.

You are one tough little guy, praise God.

So we've moved on.  My little family just had an awesome Sunday.  What with a great weather, and some baby outfits spree.

And we will be celebrating Geb's five months of life after one more sleep.

In the meantime, here's a GUMMY SMILE before we say nighty-night.

Could that get any GUMmier?

This blog is finally a dot com (.com).  I wish I can wait for a more upbeat, happy blogpost and announce that with a bang! But I'm too giddy, I can't wait.  The imasuper series will sorely be missed.   I started this online space in 2010 as a personal/food blog, exactly a year before Geb was born. My first evah blog post HERE. Yes, same birth date! Talk about oh-so-terrific :)
